Cleanse Pt. 2

By on October 7, 2017
My lunch smoothie, snack juice, kombucha and morning smoothie

So here’s what I got out of this cleanse:

When I woke up the third day of the cleanse, I finally saw the flat stomach I was looking for – no more bloat. The first and second days I was feeling a little blah probably from my stomach getting used to all the liquid. But on the third day, I felt good.

My main goal in doing a cleanse is to just feel better, a little lighter and to reset. I don’t want to see that I’ve lost a magical 5 lbs or anything because Lord knows I’m going to gain that right back the day after.

Cleanse, Pt. 1

By on October 3, 2017

So I decided to do a cleanse this week. It just felt right.

I know, I know – diets don’t work, cleanses don’t work. But I don’t do cleanses to magically lose weight. Yes, I do feel lighter and maybe a little skinner after doing a cleanse but I’m well aware it isn’t permanent.

I do cleanses to reset. I also try to cut down on caffeine while I do these because I’m always somehow drinking more and more coffee.

Work Wear – Fall Edition

By on September 21, 2017

So my current job is the first truly corporate job I’ve had where I need to keep it rather professional as far as what I wear – I’m talking no one dresses down in the slightest even on Fridays.

And since it’s finally fall, I’ve been shopping for fall work clothes to prevent the usual staring at my closet routine every morning.

Currently, I’m overwhelmed by the amount of shirts that H&M has that are perfect for work. I’ll share as I find more!

1. V-neck Blouse  // 2. Cotton Shirt // 3. Trumpet-Sleeve Blouse // 4. Viscose Shirt // 5. Wrapover Cotton Blouse // 6. Asymmetic Cotton Blouse // 7. Blouse with Stand-up Collar
8. Shirt with Appliques // 9. One-shoulder Blouse

How to Hack Your Starbucks PSL to Make It Healthier

By on September 18, 2017

Inslee Farris Art

It’s that time of year again! I know – pumpkin spice latte’s are “so basic” said everyone ever. But if it’s basic, I don’t care because it tastes damn good.

Anywayyyys this article caught my eye in my morning email from Well and Good and I had to share because really, who wouldn’t want a PSL that’s a little less heavy on the calories? (Apparently it has 50g of sugar…)

7 ways to hack your Starbucks PSL order to make it healthier

Getting back into the gym

By on September 11, 2017

After an unfortunate extended hiatus (got a new job, got a crazy dog, etc.), I’m long over due to get back in the gym. No particular reason why I chose this week, it just happened.

It was kind of a leg day, kind of not. I just wanted to get back in there and do something.

So here’s what I did this morning:

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

By on July 23, 2017

So I started a new job in the last few weeks which is why I’ve been a little MIA but I finally have a 9 to 5 job which I am so excited about – more time for a dog (TBD), working out, cooking and this!

But the Nordstrom sale happened to come right in time to get some new things for work.

I picked these up for a few new staples:

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Shoes

Tory Burch Claire Ballerina Flats // Steve Madden Carrson Sandal // Sam Edelman Raisa Bow Flat

^^ Two things. One – the Tory flats were much more comfortable than expected and I didn’t have to go through a horrible phase of blisters with the first wear.

It’s Friday

By on June 16, 2017

So I’m going to try this new thing where every Friday, I’ll share what I’m reading, listening to, products and things I’m coveting and loving, and quotes that have stuck with me.

What I’m reading:
Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance by Angela Duckworth
Wtf is grit? Duckworth describes grit as a combination of passion and perseverance and how it is often overshadowed by talent incorrectly. Long-term passion turn into great achievement when supported by perseverance – which is something we millennials have a hard time doing: sticking things out. Because here’s the thing – you can’t get anywhere if you don’t have a long-term goal, which she does acknowledge can take some time to nail down – people don’t find these things over night. She then goes on to explain that you’re not SOL if you don’t feel that you have true grit. But that you can become a gritty person through learning the four psychological assets that mature paragons of grit exhibit: interest, practice, purpose and hope. Such a good read…I love her examples. It was definitely a book I didn’t want to put down. (I LOVE TO READ. Yes, this one probably sounds very re-search-esque but trust me, it’s a good read for everyone)

What I’m listening to:
The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast – The Bitch Bible – Episode 22
If you haven’t heard of Jackie Schimmel of the Bitch Bible, you are missing out. She is freaking hilarious and Lauryn Evarts and her fiancé Michael Bosstick are typically hilarious themselves. Jackie doesn’t hesitate to tell it like it is. She is real af. In this episode, she discusses “her love of all things ‘Real Housewives,’ why James Kennedy from ‘Vanderpump Rules’ is the worst, what made her start a blog, and why people should be honest about the plastic surgery they get.”

Currently coveting:
Urban Decay Shapeshifter Palette – because Ulta ran out of light/medium palettes this week so I haven’t been able to get my hands on one 🙄

Product I’m loving:
RenPure shampoo and conditioner – I’ve been using this brand for a while now. Right now, I’m using the Coconut Cream shampoo and the 7 Super Oils conditioner. I love this brand because their products don’t have any sodium chloride, sulfates, dyes, harsh salts, or parabens (aka things that strip your hair)!

Quote I’m contemplating:
@_stephanierao‘s quote “Start your week aggressively, write down your goals, envision yourself completing them. Now go crush the week. Remember we become our actions.” (yeah I’m basically free marketing for some of the people I follow on instagram)

Ulta Haul 💄

By on June 14, 2017

So one of my birthday presents was a gift card to Ulta. And when you aren’t running out of anything you need, that means run wild and buy anything and everything you’ve been wanting to try.

I may or may not have snapped some of the stuff I purchased but I wanted to try everything before I did a post about it!

P.S. I like to buy travel-size things before buying the full-size because I’m trying to act like I’ve learned my lesson when it comes to buying products and only using them once…

1. TonyMoly Water Sleeping Pack – I freaking love TonyMoly. I went on a Korean skincare kick a few months back and this is the one brand that stuck with me. I haven’t come to a complete consensus on this one yet…I’ve been trying to moisturize my skin more because I’m constantly drying it out with masks (thank you acne) so a few nights a week I sleep with a serum on my face.
